Meow Meow Story
Meow Meow Story
Inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, I created a top-down RPG game in which the player plays the role of a kitten searching for a lost friend. With the support of my game course professor Scott, I was able to finish all components of this game's concept. In the game, player will visit cafes, museums, beaches, cellars, and other locations, ending in a reunion with its dear friend G!
Design Process
At first, I also jotted down my overall idea on scrap paper and had a foggy image. Then I began looking for tileset resources to use as a base for further constructing the game's vision. Since I've loved setting up rooms since I was a child, I was inspired to expand even more when I got to the second room setting in the game; therefore, I came up with a new idea: the protagonist may not only stay in the village but also go to the beach and the lighthouse, etc.
This is one of my to-do lists. Actually, I'm more of a casual person, but having a to-do list does help my cluttered brain to reorganize when lots of things are getting together.
One of the best things about game design is that when you put something seemingly difficult together, magical things may happen. To be honest, I didn't think I'd be able to finish the game in the given time, and the process was pretty arduous. I would often fall asleep early at night if I thought about continuing with the construction. But finally, at playtest, people noticed my hidden details in the game and my input, which was quite motivating.
